    • Easy to apply by brush or roller

    Uses

Galvafroid is used to protect steel and ferrous metals against corrosion through Galvanic Protection. It can be used as a Self-Finish coating or as a durable anti-corrosion primer before applying a suitable topcoat.

The product is suitable for corrosion protection of steel structures, agricultural and construction machinery and equipment, gates, steel railings, steel components, drainage channels, and field-welded joints. It can also be used as a Rebar Primer for reinforcing steel in concrete.

    Advantages

    • Protects ferrous metals against corrosion

    • Suitable for use as a primer or self-finish coating

    • Helps prevent the spread of corrosion beneath the coating (Rust Creep)

    • Easy to apply by brush or roller

    Description

Galvafroid is a Zinc Rich Coating specially formulated for easy application. It provides corrosion protection for ferrous metals through a Cold Galvanising system.

The product provides a Mid-Grey, Matt Finish.

    Design Criteria

Galvafroid should be applied in 2 coats when used as a Self-Finish coating and 1 coat when used as a Primer.

To achieve effective corrosion protection, Galvafroid must be applied to the substrate at the recommended coverage rate.

    Specification

The anti-corrosion primer shall be Galvafroid, a Zinc Rich Material specially designed to help prevent rust formation on ferrous metal surfaces.

    Instructions for Use

    Surface Preparation (Preparation)

All ferrous metal surfaces must be clean and free from oil, grease, Mill Scale, rust, and existing coatings.

The most suitable surface preparation method is Grit-Blasting. However, thorough cleaning with a wire brush may also be sufficient for surface preparation.

Certain rust removers containing Phosphoric Acid may form an electrically insulating film on ferrous metal surfaces. Therefore, such rust removers should not be used.

    Mixing

Before application, Galvafroid must be stirred thoroughly to ensure a uniform and homogeneous consistency.

Periodic stirring during application is recommended to prevent the product components from settling.

Galvafroid is supplied at a consistency suitable for direct application from the container.

If dilution is necessary, only Galvafroid Thinner should be used, at a maximum dilution rate of 1 liter of thinner per 8 liters of Galvafroid.

    Application

To achieve the specified corrosion protection performance of Galvafroid, it is essential to maintain the correct product application rate.

All properly prepared surfaces should receive at least 1 coat of Galvafroid, or additional coats as appropriate.

The material should be applied evenly and in sufficient quantity. Avoid excessive brushing or rolling that may spread the material too thinly and result in insufficient coating thickness.

The required coating thickness can be achieved by applying additional coats of Galvafroid. Each previous coat must be allowed to dry completely before applying the next coat.
