Supercast SWX Product Description
Supercast SWX is a hydrophilic sealant that demonstrates consistent swelling performance during repeated wet and dry cycles. When exposed to water, the product expands and generates positive pressure against the surfaces of concrete joints, effectively preventing water penetration.
Product Description
Supercast SWX is a water-swellable elastomeric sealant supplied as a grey paste. It can be applied in the same way as conventional sealants. Its hydrophilic properties allow it to expand upon contact with water.
Supercast SWX maintains a consistent swelling rate even after repeated wet and dry cycles. When the product comes into contact with water, it expands and generates pressure against the surfaces of concrete joints, creating a tight seal that effectively prevents water from passing through the joints.
Features / Benefits
Fast Curing: Allows earlier concrete placement and rapid return to service. The sealant can be covered with manually placed concrete within 2 hours for emergency repair applications, while large-scale concrete pours can be carried out after 8 hours.
Excellent Seal on Rough Concrete: Provides excellent waterproofing performance by filling gaps and irregularities in rough concrete surfaces, creating a tight and effective seal.
Excellent Adhesion: Easy and fast to install on various damp and uneven joint surfaces. The sealant remains securely in position during concrete placement.
Water Swellable: Expands by up to 200% upon contact with water, generating sealing pressure that helps prevent water leakage.
Durable: Offers excellent resistance to repeated wet and dry cycles while maintaining its elastomeric flexibility and swelling performance, due to its high resistance to cementitious environments.
Applications
Supercast SWX can be used as an adhesive for installing Supercast SW waterstop strips or as a hydrophilic waterstop to prevent water leakage in difficult-to-access areas. It is suitable for the following applications:
Sealing joints around precast concrete manhole covers, cable ducts, service pipes, and surrounding areas
Sealing joints between precast concrete segments
Sealing joints between rough surfaces, such as slurry walls and concrete slabs
Sealing joints around H-beams and areas where materials or equipment penetrate concrete structures
Providing additional sealing around conventional rubber and plastic waterstops to create a double-protection waterproofing system (Belt and Braces Seal) before concrete placement
