Applications
Silcor® Primer BS is used as a primer for polyurethane waterproofing membranes in Silcor systems and Bituthene® Mastic Membrane waterproofing systems.
It can be applied to a wide range of rigid construction substrates, including:
Concrete block surfaces and concrete masonry
Off-form concrete
Cast-in-place concrete floors and concrete toppings
Shotcrete
Cement render
Lightweight foamed concrete
Precast concrete panels
Compressed fibre cement sheets
Metal surfaces
Brick surfaces
Substrate Preparation
The substrate must be sound, smooth, and free from dust, cement laitance, loose materials, oil, and other contaminants.
Concrete should be cured for at least 28 days, while plastered surfaces should be cured for at least 7 days.
Installation
Apply one coat of Silcor Primer BS directly from the container using a brush, roller, or spray equipment.
Allow the primer to dry until the surface is tack-free before installing the waterproofing membrane. Only prime areas where the waterproofing membrane will be installed within 6 hours.
Install the selected polyurethane waterproofing product from GCP Applied Technologies, strictly following the product’s application instructions.
Precautions
Silcor Primer BS is a flammable product. Special care should be taken when applying it in confined or enclosed spaces. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) should be used, and adequate ventilation should be provided as necessary.

Overcoating Time
If the waterproofing membrane is not installed within 6 hours after priming, the surface must first be cleaned with xylene. Once the xylene has completely dried, apply another thin coat of Silcor Primer BS at an approximate consumption rate of 0.1 kg/m².
If the waterproofing membrane is not installed within 72 hours after priming, the existing primer layer must be completely removed by diamond grinding, and a new coat of primer must be applied.
Consumption
Approximate consumption rate: 0.15 kg/m² or 0.15 L/m².
For highly porous concrete substrates, primer consumption may increase to 0.3 kg/m² or more.
Packaging
Silcor Primer BS is supplied in 17 kg metal containers.
Cleaning
Use methylated spirits to clean tools and equipment before the product cures.
Exercise caution during application and thoroughly review the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) before use.
Storage Conditions
Store in a cool, dry area. Unopened containers have a shelf life of 12 months when stored at 25°C and 60% relative humidity.
Keep away from heat sources, open flames, and all sources of ignition.
