Supercast PVC Waterstop Product Description
Supercast PVC Waterstop is available in straight lengths, factory-fabricated intersections, or prefabricated sections of a waterstop network to minimize on-site joint welding. The product range includes centrally placed profiles, such as Supercast Hydrofoil and Supercast XHD Hydrofoil, as well as externally placed profiles, such as Supercast Rearguard S.
Product Description
Supercast PVC Waterstops are manufactured from high-quality PVC compounds through an extrusion process. They are specially formulated to provide excellent flexibility and long service life.
The products are available in straight lengths, factory-fabricated junction pieces, and prefabricated sections of waterstop systems to minimize the number of joints requiring on-site welding during construction.
Features / Benefits
Available in various cross-sectional profiles to meet different project requirements
Features four continuous anchoring ribs along the profile to enhance water leakage prevention
Reinforced flanges with fixing holes for secure installation
Easy on-site joint welding
Available with molded and factory-fabricated junction and corner pieces
WRC approved for contact with drinking water
Applications
Supercast PVC Waterstops are designed as an integral waterproofing system embedded within concrete structures, providing protection against water leakage at movement joints and construction joints in cast in-situ concrete.
They are suitable for various types of structures, including:
Water Retaining Structures
Reservoirs, water towers, and wastewater treatment tanks
Dams, culverts, canals, and spillways
Swimming pools
Bunded areas and containment barriers around liquid storage tanks
Water Excluding Structures
Basements and underground parking structures
Tunnels and underground railways
Bridge abutments and retaining walls
Roof decks and podium decks
Types of Externally Placed Waterstops
The Supercast product range includes the following externally placed profiles:
Supercast Rearguard S
Supercast Rearguard R
Supercast Rearguard Kicker
Supercast Angleguard
Standards Compliance
Supercast PVC Waterstops are suitable for use in structures that come into contact with drinking water. They are approved under the Water Byelaws Scheme as an Approved Product, Registration No. 8804054.
Working Principles of Waterstop Waterproofing Systems
Supercast Waterstops prevent water leakage through two fundamental principles related to the design and configuration of the waterstop profiles.
Valve Principle
A basic dumbbell-shaped waterstop profile is embedded along the edges of adjacent concrete sections, with the concrete on both sides acting as a water barrier.
When the joint opens or expands due to drying shrinkage of the concrete or other types of movement, the anchoring bulbs along the edges of the waterstop act as anchorage points. This creates tension within the waterstop and generates sealing pressure against the inner surfaces of the bulbs.
