Mapecoat TNS Base Color
Water-Based Acrylic Coating for Intermediate Layers in Mapecoat TNS Sports Flooring Systems
Mapecoat TNS Base Color is a pigmented, water-based acrylic resin coating formulated with specially selected fillers. It is designed for use as an intermediate layer in multi-layer Mapecoat TNS sports flooring systems. The product helps prepare the surface before applying the finishing coat, ensuring a uniform, durable flooring system suitable for sports activities.
The product is suitable for new sports surfaces or existing sports flooring systems made of acrylic or polyurethane. It serves as an intermediate colored coating before applying decorative or finishing coats in subsequent stages. It is suitable for tennis courts, basketball courts, volleyball courts, futsal courts, and multipurpose sports areas.

Surface Preparation Recommendations
Before application, the substrate must be smooth, clean, sound, and free from dust, oil, grease, fats, wax, loose existing paint, or contaminants that may reduce product adhesion.
For concrete substrates, suitable mechanical surface preparation methods, such as shot blasting or grinding, should be used to remove contaminants, weak cement paste, and loose materials while creating appropriate surface roughness and absorbency. The surface must then be thoroughly vacuum-cleaned before application.
New concrete substrates should be fully cured for at least 28 days and have a residual moisture content below 3%. New concrete substrates should also have an appropriate moisture vapor barrier system. New asphalt substrates should be allowed to cure for at least 15–20 days, depending on weather conditions, to ensure proper oxidation before application.
Application Procedure Summary
Before application, stir Mapecoat TNS Base Color in its original container using a low-speed mixer to avoid entrapping air in the product. Water may then be added. For a 20 kg container, approximately 2–3 liters of water, or about 10–15%, is recommended. Continue mixing for at least 2 minutes until a homogeneous consistency is obtained.
Generally, 1 coat is recommended, applied using a rubber squeegee or metal trowel. The drying time is approximately 12–24 hours at +23°C and 50% relative humidity. However, drying time may vary depending on temperature, humidity, shaded conditions, and on-site weather conditions.
Precautions
Do not dilute with solvents
Do not apply to dusty, deteriorated, or unsound substrates
Do not apply to surfaces contaminated with oil, grease, or dirt
Do not apply to wet or damp surfaces
Do not apply when rain is imminent or during strong winds
Substrate temperature should be between +10°C and +50°C
Application temperature should be between +10°C and +35°C
Do not apply when relative humidity exceeds 85%
Cementitious substrates must be primed with a suitable primer before application
For existing coated surfaces, inspect the substrate condition and conduct adhesion tests before actual application
