Mapecoat TNS Color
Fine-Textured Acrylic Coating for Mapecoat TNS Sports Flooring Systems
Mapecoat TNS Color is a pigmented, water-based acrylic coating formulated with specially selected fillers. It is designed for use in multi-layer Mapecoat TNS sports flooring systems. The product can be used as a pore-filling layer for Mapecoat TNS RP PVC Mat or as a colored coating for the construction and renovation of sports surfaces according to the specified system.
The product is suitable for both indoor and outdoor sports flooring applications, such as basketball courts, volleyball courts, futsal courts, skating rinks, velodromes, and multipurpose sports surfaces. It is also suitable for renovating existing sports surfaces previously coated with synthetic resins, provided that the substrate condition and adhesion are checked before application.
Mapecoat TNS Color provides a fine-textured, colored finish that helps create a uniform surface suitable for sports activities. It offers good abrasion resistance, with technical data indicating wet abrasion resistance of more than 15,000 cycles and elongation at break of approximately 285% after 7 days of curing at +23°C.
Applications of Mapecoat TNS Color
Mapecoat TNS Color is suitable for sports flooring and recreational areas, such as:
Used as a pore-filling layer beneath the Mapecoat TNS RP system
Used as a colored coating for indoor and outdoor sports courts
Basketball courts, volleyball courts, and futsal courts
Skating rinks, velodromes, and multipurpose sports surfaces
Construction of new sports surfaces using the Mapecoat TNS system
Renovation of existing sports surfaces previously coated with synthetic resins
Concrete or bituminous substrates that have been properly prepared according to the specified system
Key Features of Mapecoat TNS Color
Fine-textured acrylic coating for Mapecoat TNS sports flooring systems
Can be used as both a pore-filling layer and a colored coating
Suitable for new sports surfaces and renovation of existing sports flooring
Suitable for both interior and exterior applications
Helps create a uniform colored surface suitable for multipurpose sports areas
Good flexibility, with elongation at break of approximately 285%
Wet abrasion resistance of more than 15,000 cycles
Low capillary water absorption coefficient of approximately 0.03 kg/(m²·h⁰·⁵)
Can be applied using a rubber squeegee, roller, or Air-HVLP spray equipment
Tools can be cleaned with water while the product is still wet
Surface Preparation Recommendations
Before application, the substrate must be smooth, clean, dry, sound, and free from dust, oil, grease, wax, loose existing paint, or contaminants that may reduce product adhesion.
For concrete substrates, suitable mechanical surface preparation methods, such as shot blasting or diamond grinding, should be used to remove contaminants, weak cement paste, and unsound materials. The surface must then be thoroughly vacuum-cleaned before applying the system. If the concrete substrate has a residual moisture content not exceeding 3%, Mapecoat TNS Primer EPW should be used. If the residual moisture content is between 3% and 6%, Triblock P should be applied as a moisture barrier before application.
New asphalt or bituminous substrates should be allowed to cure for approximately 15–20 days, depending on weather conditions, to ensure proper oxidation before applying Mapecoat TNS Color.
Application Procedure Summary
Before application, stir Mapecoat TNS Color in its original container using a low-speed mixer to avoid entrapping air in the product. Then add water and continue mixing for at least 2 minutes until a uniform consistency is obtained. For a 20 kg pail, approximately 1–2 liters of water should be added.
The product can be applied using a rubber squeegee, a short-pile roller with approximately 5 mm pile length, or Air-HVLP spray equipment. The recommended number of coats is 1 coat when used as a pore-filling layer, 2 coats when used as a colored coating for new or existing sports surfaces, and 3 coats for bright or highly vivid colors, such as lime yellow, bright red, or orange, which may require additional coverage.
The typical drying time is approximately 12–24 hours at +23°C and 50% relative humidity. Lower temperatures, shaded areas, or high humidity may extend drying and recoating times.
Approximate Consumption
Based on the undiluted product:
Porous Substrates, such as Mapecoat TNS RP: First coat approximately 0.8–1.0 kg/m²
Non-Porous Substrates: First coat approximately 0.2–0.4 kg/m²
Second Coat on Non-Porous Substrates: Approximately 0.2–0.3 kg/m²
Actual consumption may vary depending on substrate porosity, roughness, and on-site surface conditions.
Precautions
Do not dilute with solvents
Do not apply to dusty, deteriorated, or unsound substrates
Do not apply to surfaces contaminated with oil, grease, or dirt
Concrete substrates must be cured for at least 28 days and have a residual moisture content below 3%
Do not use in areas subject to negative hydrostatic pressure
Cementitious substrates must be primed before application
Do not apply when rain is imminent or during strong winds
Do not apply to wet or damp surfaces
Substrate temperature should be between +10°C and +50°C
Application temperature should be between +10°C and +35°C
