Water-Based Anti-Slip Coating for Race Tracks and Motorsport Line Marking

Mapecoat TNS Race Track is a fast-drying, pigmented, water-based acrylic coating formulated with specially selected fillers. It is specifically designed for race tracks and motorsport areas. The product is suitable for race track line marking, track kerbs, pit lanes, starting grids, and areas requiring clear colors or markings on track surfaces.

The product can be applied to both concrete and asphalt surfaces subjected to heavy traffic. It provides a durable, slip-resistant coating that maintains excellent performance even under wet conditions. It is suitable for areas where cars or motorcycles frequently accelerate, brake, turn, or maneuver, such as pit lanes, paddocks, and track edges.

In addition to improving the visibility of track markings and decorative finishes, Mapecoat TNS Race Track also acts as a protective surface coating, helping reduce the effects of moisture, carbon dioxide, oils, fuels, de-icing salts, and outdoor environmental conditions. It also provides good resistance to sunlight and UV radiation.

Application Recommendations

Before application, the substrate must be sound, compact, clean, dry, and free from loose or delaminated materials. For new concrete surfaces or concrete elements, such as track kerbs, a suitable primer, such as Mapecoat TNS Primer EPW, should be applied before Mapecoat TNS Race Track. New asphalt surfaces should be allowed to cure and oxidize for at least 15–20 days before coating application.

The product can be diluted with up to approximately 10% water, depending on substrate temperature, ambient temperature, and application method. Before application, it should be thoroughly mixed using a low-speed mixer to obtain a homogeneous consistency and avoid entraining air into the coating.

The product can be applied using a short-pile roller with approximately 5 mm pile length or airspray road line marking equipment for large areas. Generally, at least 2 coats are recommended, allowing approximately 2–4 hours between coats under normal weather conditions. After application, the coated surface should be protected from rain or water during the initial drying period.

Precautions

• Do not dilute with solvents

• Do not apply to dusty, deteriorated, or unsound substrates

• Do not apply to surfaces contaminated with oil, grease, or dirt

• Do not apply to areas subjected to negative hydrostatic pressure

• Do not apply to wet surfaces or surfaces that are still damp after washing

• Do not apply when rain is imminent or during strong winds

• Application temperature should be between +5°C and +35°C

• Substrate temperature should not exceed +50°C

• Do not apply when relative humidity exceeds 85%

Approximate Consumption

• Asphalt / Bituminous Surfaces: Approximately 0.15–0.30 kg/m² per coat

• Track Kerbs or Concrete Elements: Approximately 0.20–0.40 kg/m² per coat

Actual consumption may vary depending on substrate porosity, roughness, and on-site surface conditions.
