Mapeflex PU 45 FT

Fast-Curing, Paintable Polyurethane Sealant and Adhesive

Mapeflex PU 45 FT is a single-component polyurethane sealant and adhesive with a thixotropic paste consistency. It is easy to apply and non-sagging, making it suitable for sealing joints and bonding construction materials in both indoor and outdoor applications. The product cures through atmospheric moisture and features rapid curing properties, allowing treated areas to be returned to service more quickly.

The product is designed for sealing expansion joints and control joints on both horizontal and vertical surfaces, including areas that may occasionally be exposed to certain chemicals, such as hydrocarbons. It is suitable for industrial floors, parking areas, supermarkets, shopping centers, warehouses, tiled floors, concrete floors, and joints in general building structures.

In addition to its use as a sealant, Mapeflex PU 45 FT can also be used as a flexible adhesive with a maximum thickness of 3 mm for various construction materials, such as cementitious materials, aerated concrete, bricks, steel, copper, aluminum, glass, wood, ceramics, insulation materials, and certain types of plastics, including PVC, acrylic, and fiberglass.

Applications of Mapeflex PU 45 FT

Mapeflex PU 45 FT is suitable for sealing and bonding applications such as:

• Sealing expansion joints and control joints

• Industrial floors subjected to vehicle or truck traffic

• Concrete floors in parking areas, supermarkets, shopping centers, and warehouses

• Sealing tiled floors or walls in heavy-duty areas

• Sealing joints in concrete walls and vertical structures

• Sealing general cracks

• Sealing around air-conditioning pipes and electrical cables

• Sealing metal sheets, such as flashings and gutters

• Bonding skirting boards, corner trims, decorative panels, sanitary fixtures, window sills, roof tiles, and insulation panels

When used as an adhesive, the application thickness should not exceed 3 mm. For heavy materials or difficult installation conditions, temporary supports should be provided during the first 24 hours.

Application Precautions

Mapeflex PU 45 FT should not be applied to dusty, deteriorated, wet, or damp surfaces, or surfaces contaminated with oil, grease, or release agents, as these conditions may affect material adhesion. The product documentation also specifies that it should not be used for sealing joints in natural stone and marble. More suitable products, such as Mapesil LM or Mapesil Stone Matt, should be used instead.

The product should not be applied to bituminous surfaces that may release oils and should not be used at temperatures below +5°C. In addition, alcohol must not come into contact with the uncured product, as it may interfere with the polyurethane curing process.
