    Betec Flex S150 Product Description

Betec Flex S150 is a two-component, flexible polymer-modified cementitious waterproofing system. The two components of BETEC Flex S150 are mixed together using a low-speed drill fitted with a mixing paddle to produce a smooth, homogeneous slurry. The mixture is then applied in two coats using a trowel or brush to form a rigid yet flexible waterproof cementitious coating.

BETEC Flex S150 is a system that does not require exposure to air for curing and can be applied to damp, stable substrates, including wet areas in both interior and exterior environments. Once cured, the waterproofing membrane is flexible, durable, and provides excellent adhesion to most substrates.

    Applications

    • Building floors, basement walls, and concrete slabs

    • Swimming pools and decorative water features

    • Bathrooms, balconies, wet areas, and planter boxes

    • Water-retaining structures

    • Car park decks

    • Sealing of precast concrete joints (Pre-cast Joints)

    Installation

    Surface Preparation

    – All holes and cavities must be properly prepared and filled with a suitable repair mortar from GCP Applied Technologies to achieve a smooth and level surface. Mortar joints must be finished flush with the surrounding surface.

    – Remove all traces of bitumen, oil, grease, dirt, and other contaminants from the substrate using a wire brush and high-pressure water cleaning. Any protrusions from the surface must also be removed or trimmed.

    Product Advantages

    • Resistant to both positive and negative hydrostatic water pressure

    • Flexible and capable of bridging drying shrinkage cracks and hairline cracks

    • Suitable for sealing lightweight concrete block surfaces and precast concrete joints

    • Excellent adhesion to concrete, masonry, ceramic, and most common substrates without causing corrosion to metals

    • Non-toxic

    • Can withstand pedestrian traffic once fully cured

    • Plaster or screed can be applied directly over the coating without affecting adhesion

    Mixing

    – Shake the liquid component thoroughly before use. Pour approximately 75% of the liquid into a clean mixing container.

    – Gradually add the Betec Flex S150 powder component while mixing continuously.

    – Continue mixing until a smooth, homogeneous slurry is obtained, free from lumps.

    – Use a trowel to scrape any unmixed material from the sides of the container and incorporate it back into the mixture.

    – Add the remaining liquid as required to adjust the consistency to suit the intended application method.

    – Do not mix partial quantities of the product kit. Do not add water, cement, sand, or any other materials to the mixture under any circumstances.

    – Mechanical mixing at a speed of 400–500 rpm for 2–3 minutes is recommended to ensure proper dispersion and thorough mixing of all components.

    – Pre-dampen the substrate with clean water before application. Ensure that no standing water or puddles remain on the surface.

    – Apply the first coat of the prepared Betec Flex S150 mixture onto the properly prepared substrate using a brush, trowel, rubber squeegee, or roller. Work the material thoroughly into the surface to ensure complete contact and adhesion.

    – Apply the second coat to achieve the required final finish, taking into consideration the site conditions and the desired coating thickness.

    – Allow the first coat to dry for approximately 2–4 hours, depending on the coating thickness, before applying the second coat in a direction perpendicular to the first coat.

    – If the subsequent coat is applied more than 24 hours after the previous coat, or if the previous coat has completely dried, the surface must be re-dampened with water before applying the next coat.
