MONOKOTE Z-156 High-Density Cementitious Spray-Applied Fireproofing Material for Steel Structures
MONOKOTE® Z-156 is an ultra-high-density cementitious spray-applied fireproofing material developed by GCP Applied Technologies for fire protection applications in commercial buildings, industrial facilities, and areas requiring exceptional strength and durability. The product is factory-prepared, with Portland cement as its primary component. It only requires the addition of water in the specified proportion before mixing and spray application.
The material can be sprayed onto steel structures, such as beams and columns, to provide fire resistance of up to 4 hours. However, the actual fire resistance rating depends on the applied thickness, structural configuration, and the approved fireproofing system specified for each project.
Key Features of MONOKOTE Z-156
Factory-prepared material that helps reduce errors in measuring or proportioning ingredients on-site
Requires only the addition of water and can be mixed using conventional plaster mixers
Can be applied by spraying and finished with a trowel after application
Provides high hardness and durability, helping reduce damage caused by impacts during service
Moisture-resistant and suitable for high-humidity environments
Resistant to weather conditions such as rain, wind, and freeze-thaw cycles
Exhibits zero air erosion according to test results
No fungal growth observed after 28 days of testing
Flame spread index of 0 and smoke developed index of 0 according to ASTM E84 testing
Suitable for areas where particle control and emissions are important, such as clean rooms
Suitable Applications of MONOKOTE Z-156
MONOKOTE® Z-156 is suitable for spray-applied fireproofing of steel structures in areas requiring both fire resistance performance and physical durability, such as:
Parking garages and parking areas
Exterior building areas
Mechanical and equipment rooms
Commercial buildings
Factories and industrial buildings
High-humidity environments
Areas exposed to rain, wind, or outdoor weather conditions
Clean rooms and particle-controlled environments
Areas where spray-applied fireproofing materials may be subjected to impact or damage during service
