Proofex 12 Product Description
The polymer-modified bitumen adhesive layer of Proofex 12 is protected on its underside by silicone release paper, which must be removed before applying Proofex 12 to a substrate primed with a tack coat. The installed membrane must then be immediately protected against UV radiation and mechanical damage during subsequent backfilling by using protection boards or a sand/cement screed.
Applications (Uses)
Proofex 12 is used to form a vapour and waterproof membrane in building and civil engineering structures.
It acts as a barrier against the penetration of ground moisture vapour into concrete floor slabs and also helps protect concrete against attack from salts present in aggressive soils.
Typical application areas include basements, ground slabs, reservoir roofs, foundations, lift pits, and underpasses.
Product Advantages (Advantages)
Waterproof and vapour-proof
Suitable for Grades 2, 3, and 4 basement waterproofing applications in accordance with BS 8102:1990, Protection of Structures Against Water From the Ground
Standard thickness of 2 mm
Fabric reinforcement provides increased puncture resistance and dimensional stability
Features a peel-off selvedge strip along the membrane edge, allowing clean, dry bitumen-to-bitumen bonding at joints with a consistent overlap width
Excellent adhesion to substrates
Capable of withstanding a hydrostatic head of up to 30 meters when fully supported
Product Description (Description)
Proofex 12 is a self-adhesive sheet waterproofing membrane designed for cold application without the use of heat.
The product consists of tough, strong, damage-resistant polyester fabric reinforcement sandwiched between two layers of polymer-modified bitumen.
The membrane has a surface film on its upper side that provides a durable finish, together with a peel-off selvedge strip along the edge to allow bitumen-to-bitumen bonding at side laps.
The self-adhesive underside is protected by release paper, which must be removed before installation.
Design Criteria (Design Criteria)
Proofex 12 membranes should be protected with Proofex Protection Board for both vertical and horizontal applications, or with a sand/cement screed for horizontal applications, before proceeding with subsequent construction work.
Proofex Protection Board should be spot-bonded to the Proofex 12 membrane using Sealastrip PIB500.
For an enhanced drainage protection board system, Proofex Sheetdrain can also be bonded to the Proofex 12 membrane using Sealastrip PIB500.
Where Proofex 12 is used as a floor damp proof membrane (DPM), it must be installed to ensure waterproofing continuity with all damp proof course (DPC) systems and other DPM systems used within the structure.
