Triflex ProPark Waterproofing System for Heavy-Duty Parking Garage Roof Decks
Triflex ProPark is a liquid-applied waterproofing system designed for parking garage roof decks and exposed parking areas directly subjected to weather conditions. It has been developed for areas exposed to heavy traffic and high mechanical stresses, such as entrances and exits, straight ramps, spiral ramps, and parking decks located above occupied interior spaces.
The system is based on fast-curing PMMA resin and is fully reinforced with fleece to create a continuous waterproofing membrane capable of accommodating crack movement. It is suitable for both new construction and refurbishment of existing parking garage floors.
Key Features of Triflex ProPark
Fully fleece-reinforced waterproofing system that enhances strength and provides dynamic crack-bridging capability
High resistance to mechanical stresses from vehicles and heavy traffic
Resistant to UV radiation, weathering, and temperature fluctuations
Resistant to de-icing salts, fuels, and lubricating oils
Uses PMMA resin throughout all layers, creating continuous chemical bonding between layers across the entire surface
Reduces the risk of water penetration between material layers
Suitable for refurbishment projects due to its ability to bond to various substrate types
Total system weight of less than 10 kg/m²
Can be installed over suitable asphalt surfaces without adding significant structural load
Faster curing compared to epoxy or polyurethane resin-based systems
Critical areas, such as entrances and exits, can be refurbished within one day under suitable site conditions
Available in a wide range of colors to clearly define parking spaces, pedestrian walkways, and traffic routes
Suitable Applications for Triflex ProPark
Triflex ProPark is suitable for areas exposed to water, sunlight, temperature fluctuations, and mechanical stresses caused by vehicle traffic, such as:
Parking garage roof decks
Outdoor parking areas
Parking decks above occupied interior spaces
Parking garage entrances and exits
Entrance and exit ramps
Spiral ramps in multi-storey parking garages
Vehicle turning areas
High-traffic areas
Repair and refurbishment of existing parking decks
Asphalt surfaces that have been assessed and confirmed suitable for the system
These areas are frequently subjected to shear forces caused by vehicle braking, turning, and acceleration, as well as heat, sunlight, rain, and automotive chemicals. The system is therefore designed to provide both waterproofing protection and long-term structural surface protection.
General System Structure
The Triflex ProPark system is available in different configurations depending on substrate conditions, application requirements, and load levels. However, the general system structure consists of the following main layers:
1. Primer Layer
Select the appropriate primer according to the substrate material, such as:
Triflex Cryl Primer 222 for asphalt substrates
Triflex Cryl Primer 287 for absorbent substrates such as concrete, screeds, or wood
Triflex Metal Primer for metal and rusted surfaces
Triflex Glass Primer for unabraded glass surfaces
Triflex Pox Primer 116+ for priming, surface sealing, and leveling surface irregularities in specified systems
The primer type and consumption rate must be determined based on actual substrate inspections and the manufacturer’s system documentation.
2. Triflex ProPark Waterproofing Layer
The waterproofing layer consists of Triflex ProPark combined with Triflex Special Fleece to provide reinforcement and help control system thickness.
According to the system information for Variation 1, the minimum consumption of Triflex ProPark is approximately 3 kg/m² on smooth, even surfaces.
3. Traffic-Bearing Layer
Triflex DeckFloor is used as a heavy-duty coating layer within the parking garage system. It can also serve as a leveling or smoothing layer.
The Variation 1 system specifies a minimum consumption of approximately 4 kg/m² on smooth surfaces. Quartz sand is also broadcast onto the coating to enhance surface properties according to the specified system design.
4. Finishing Layer
Triflex Cryl Finish 209 is used as the final surface coating to improve resistance to chemicals and mechanical stresses.
The approximate consumption rate is 0.50–0.70 kg/m², depending on the application area and service requirements.
5. Waterproofing System for Construction Details
At joints, corners, floor edges, pipes, drainage outlets, and connections to other structural elements, Triflex ProDetail can be used in combination with reinforcing fleece to ensure continuous integration between the detailing waterproofing and the main floor membrane.
This helps reduce the risk of water leakage at complex construction details.
Durability and Performance
Triflex ProPark is designed to withstand mechanical stresses and chemicals commonly encountered in parking structures, including shear forces at ramps, repeated vehicle traffic, fuels, engine oils, and de-icing salts.
The system also accommodates the effects of temperature fluctuations, which can cause concrete structures to expand, contract, or move. Full-surface fleece reinforcement helps the waterproofing membrane bridge cracks and maintain system continuity.
Fast Installation and Reduced Downtime
PMMA resin offers rapid curing, reducing closure periods compared to systems based on epoxy (EP) or polyurethane (PUR) resins.
According to the manufacturer, critical areas such as entrances and exits can be refurbished within one day, provided that site conditions, temperature, substrate preparation, and installation procedures meet the specified requirements.
This advantage makes the system suitable for parking structures that cannot remain closed for extended periods. Installation work can also be divided into zones to minimize operational disruption.
Color Design and Traffic Management
Triflex ProPark is available in various finish colors, allowing different colors to be used to identify parking levels, designate parking spaces, define vehicle routes, and create pedestrian walkways.
Using contrasting colors helps drivers recognize locations and navigate parking structures more easily. It also improves the visibility of pedestrian routes, special parking spaces, and areas requiring extra caution, supporting both appearance and traffic safety.
Standards and Certifications
According to the manufacturer, Triflex ProPark has obtained a General Building Supervisory Authority Test Certificate (abP) and is classified as a Class OS 10 surface protection system.
The system also has a Cfl-s1 reaction-to-fire classification in accordance with DIN EN 13501-1.
Considerations Before Installation
The substrate must be sound, clean, dry, and free from dust, oil, grease, loose existing coatings, or other contaminants that may reduce adhesion.
Before installation, moisture content, concrete strength, crack conditions, surface slopes, and drainage systems should be inspected.
The system is available in several configurations, including Variation 1, Variation 2, and Variation 3. Therefore, the selection of system structure, primer type, material consumption, surface roughness, and finish color should be based on the manufacturer’s latest system planning documentation and designed to suit the traffic loads of each project.
