Mapecoat TNS Base Coat White

(+15% Vat Included)

Mapecoat TNS White Base Coat is a water-based acrylic resin base coat and filler, formulated with specially graded quartz sand. It is designed for surface preparation within the Mapecoat TNS multi-layer sports flooring system. It is suitable for new sports surfaces—whether on bituminous or cementitious substrates—as well as for existing acrylic or polyurethane sports surfaces. It helps to level the surface, fills shallow depressions up to 3 mm deep, and reduces the amount of material required for subsequent layers. It should be applied using a rubber or metal squeegee in 1–2 coats, with a consumption rate of approximately 0.4–1.2 kg/m² per coat, depending on the porosity of the substrate. It dries within approximately 12–24 hours under standard environmental conditions.

    Mapecoat TNS White Base Coat

Water-Based Acrylic Base Coat for Surface Preparation in Mapecoat TNS Sports Flooring Systems

Mapecoat TNS White Base Coat is a ready-to-use, water-based base coat formulated with acrylic resin and specially selected quartz sand. It is suitable for surface preparation before applying subsequent coating layers in the Mapecoat TNS sports flooring system. The product helps create a smooth and uniform surface, reduces material consumption in subsequent layers, and effectively fills shallow depressions and minor surface irregularities.

The product is suitable for new sports flooring applications on bituminous or cementitious substrates, as well as the renovation of existing sports surfaces with acrylic or polyurethane systems. It can also be used to prepare outdoor recreational surfaces in urban areas, helping improve the smoothness and flexibility of the flooring system before applying the finishing coats.

Applications of Mapecoat TNS White Base Coat

Mapecoat TNS White Base Coat is suitable for surface preparation applications such as:

    • Used as a base coat for new sports flooring on bituminous or cementitious substrates

    • Used for localized repairs of shallow holes or depressions up to 3 mm deep

    • Used to prepare existing sports surfaces with acrylic or polyurethane systems

    • Used to prepare outdoor recreational surfaces in urban areas

    • Used to improve the smoothness and flexibility of flooring systems before applying subsequent coating layers

Key Features of Mapecoat TNS White Base Coat

    • Water-based acrylic resin base coat that is easy to apply

    • Contains specially selected quartz sand and fillers to prepare surfaces for subsequent coating layers

    • Helps reduce material consumption in subsequent coating layers of the Mapecoat TNS system

    • Suitable for leveling surfaces with shallow holes or minor depressions

    • Compatible with bituminous substrates, cementitious substrates, and existing sports surfaces under the specified system conditions

    • Can be applied in 1–2 coats, depending on substrate conditions

    • Can be applied using a rubber squeegee or metal trowel

    • Tools can be cleaned with water while the material is still wet

    Surface Preparation Recommendations

Before application, the substrate must be smooth, clean, sound, and free from dust, oil, grease, wax, loose existing paint, or contaminants that may reduce product adhesion. For concrete substrates, mechanical surface preparation methods, such as shot blasting or diamond grinding, should be used to remove contaminants, weak cement paste, and unsound materials. The surface must then be thoroughly vacuum-cleaned before applying the system.

New concrete substrates must be fully cured for at least 28 days and have a residual moisture content below 3%, with no rising moisture from the substrate. For concrete substrates with residual moisture content not exceeding 3%, Mapecoat TNS Primer EPW can be used as a primer. However, if the residual moisture content is between 3% and 6%, the product documentation recommends applying Triblock P as a moisture barrier before installing the system.

New asphalt substrates should be allowed to cure for approximately 15–20 days, depending on weather conditions, to ensure proper oxidation before application. Surfaces with cracks, holes, or damage should be repaired using appropriate products before applying Mapecoat TNS White Base Coat.

    Application Procedure Summary

Before application, stir Mapecoat TNS White Base Coat in its original container using a low-speed mixer to achieve a uniform consistency while avoiding air entrapment. The product can then be diluted with water. The product documentation recommends adding approximately 2–3 liters of water per 20 kg pail for both the first and second coats. Continue mixing for at least 2 minutes until a homogeneous mixture is obtained.

The product can be applied in 1–2 coats, depending on substrate conditions, using a rubber squeegee or metal trowel. The typical drying time is approximately 12–24 hours at +23°C and 50% relative humidity. Temperature, humidity, and shaded conditions may affect drying and recoating times.

    Approximate Consumption

    For the undiluted product:

    • Porous Substrates:

      • First Coat: Approximately 1.0–1.2 kg/m²

      • Second Coat: Approximately 0.5–0.7 kg/m²

    • Non-Porous Substrates:

      • First Coat: Approximately 0.5–0.7 kg/m²

      • Second Coat: Approximately 0.4–0.6 kg/m²

Actual consumption may vary depending on substrate porosity, roughness, and on-site surface conditions.

    Precautions

    • Do not dilute with solvents

    • Do not apply to dusty, deteriorated, or unsound substrates

    • Do not apply to surfaces contaminated with oil, grease, or dirt

    • Do not leave the applied product exposed to sunlight for extended periods while awaiting subsequent coating layers

    • The product should be overcoated with appropriate Mapecoat TNS products according to the specified system

    • Do not use in areas subject to negative hydrostatic pressure

    • Do not apply to wet or damp surfaces

    • Do not apply when rain is imminent or during strong winds

    • Substrate temperature should be between +10°C and +50°C

    • Application temperature should be between +10°C and +35°C

    • Do not apply when relative humidity exceeds 85%
