Mapecoat TNS White Base Coat HV

(+15% Vat Included)

Mapecoat TNS White Base Coat HV is a water-based acrylic resin base coat and filler designed for surface preparation within the Mapecoat TNS multi-layered sports flooring system. It is suitable for new sports surfaces—whether bituminous or cementitious—as well as for existing acrylic or polyurethane sports surfaces. It helps level the substrate, fills shallow depressions (up to 3 mm deep), and ensures a uniform surface before the application of subsequent coating layers. It is applied using a rubber or metal squeegee/trowel. The approximate consumption rate is 0.4–1.2 kg/m² per coat, depending on the porosity of the surface, with a drying time of approximately 12–24 hours under standard climatic conditions.

Mapecoat TNS White Base Coat HV

Water-Based Acrylic Base Coat for Surface Preparation in Mapecoat TNS Sports Flooring Systems

Mapecoat TNS White Base Coat HV is a ready-to-use, water-based base coat designed for surface preparation before applying subsequent coating layers in Mapecoat TNS sports flooring systems. The product is formulated with acrylic resins and specially selected fillers to help prepare and level the substrate for subsequent applications while improving the efficiency of material consumption within the coating system.

The product is suitable for leveling surfaces, particularly areas with shallow depressions or minor unevenness. It can be used as an undercoat for new sports flooring over bituminous or cementitious substrates, as well as for preparing existing sports surfaces coated with acrylic or polyurethane systems.

Applications of Mapecoat TNS White Base Coat HV

Mapecoat TNS White Base Coat HV is suitable for surface preparation applications such as:

    • Used as a base coat for preparing new sports flooring over bituminous or cementitious substrates

    • Used for localized repairs of shallow depressions or uneven areas up to 3 mm deep

    • Used to prepare existing sports surfaces coated with acrylic or polyurethane systems

    • Used for surface preparation in urban areas or outdoor recreational spaces

    • Helps improve the smoothness and flexibility of flooring systems

The above applications are referenced directly from the Where to Use section of the product documentation.

Key Features of Mapecoat TNS White Base Coat HV

    • Water-based acrylic resin base coat that is easy to apply

    • Contains specially selected fillers to help fill and level surfaces

    • Suitable for multi-layer Mapecoat TNS sports flooring systems

    • Helps level surfaces with shallow depressions or minor irregularities

    • Suitable for bituminous substrates, cementitious substrates, and certain existing sports flooring surfaces according to the specified system

    • Helps improve surface smoothness and flexibility before applying subsequent layers

    • Can be applied using a rubber squeegee or metal trowel

    • Tools can be cleaned with water while the material is still wet

The product documentation specifies that the material can be applied in 1–2 coats, depending on substrate conditions. The final result depends on the number of coats applied, and the product can be spread using a rubber squeegee or metal trowel.

    Surface Preparation Recommendations

Before application, the substrate must be smooth, clean, sound, and free from dust, oil, grease, wax, loose existing paint, or other contaminants that may reduce material adhesion.

For concrete substrates, the surface should be prepared using suitable mechanical equipment, such as shot blasting or diamond grinding, to remove contaminants, weak cement paste, and loose materials. The surface must then be thoroughly vacuum-cleaned before application.

New concrete substrates must be fully cured for at least 28 days and have a residual moisture content below 3%. New asphalt substrates should be allowed to cure for approximately 15–20 days, depending on weather conditions, to ensure adequate oxidation before applying the system.

    Application Procedure Summary

Before application, stir Mapecoat TNS White Base Coat HV in its original container using a low-speed mixer to avoid entraining air into the material. Water may then be added, followed by mixing for at least 2 minutes until a homogeneous consistency is achieved. The product documentation recommends adding approximately 2–4 liters of water per 20 kg pail for both the first and second coats.

The product can be applied in 1 or 2 coats, depending on substrate conditions, using a rubber squeegee or metal trowel. The drying time is approximately 12–24 hours at +23°C and 50% relative humidity. Lower temperatures, shaded areas, or high humidity may increase drying and recoating times.

    Approximate Consumption

For application of 1 coat, based on the undiluted product:

    • Porous Surfaces:

      • First coat: Approximately 1.0–1.2 kg/m²

      • Second coat: Approximately 0.5–0.7 kg/m²

    • Non-Porous Surfaces:

      • First coat: Approximately 0.5–0.7 kg/m²

      • Second coat: Approximately 0.4–0.6 kg/m²

Consumption rates may vary depending on substrate conditions, porosity, and on-site application methods.

    Precautions

    • Do not dilute with solvents

    • Do not apply to dusty, deteriorated, or unsound substrates

    • Do not apply to surfaces contaminated with oil, grease, or dirt

    • Avoid leaving the product exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods during application, as it should be overcoated with products from the Mapecoat TNS range

    • Do not apply to areas subjected to negative hydrostatic pressure

    • Do not apply when rain is imminent or during strong winds

    • Do not apply to wet or damp surfaces

    • Substrate temperature should be between +10°C and +50°C

    • Application temperature should be between +10°C and +35°C

    • Do not apply when relative humidity exceeds 85%

These limitations are important conditions specified in the product documentation to help ensure that adhesion and flooring system performance meet the intended design requirements.
